L’Impératrice began in Paris around the keyboards and compositions of Charles de Boisseguin. An instrumental project grew into a band with a clear identity: seventies disco and funk, French touch, soft rock and a pop sensibility able to hold precision and lightness together.
Their bass lines often lead, but never work alone. Synthesizers, guitars, voices and small production details turn each song into a beautifully organised space that still retains spontaneity and a desire to play.
That balance feels familiar to us. Baristas also wants every decision to be considered without making the experience solemn. Technique should support enjoyment, not stand in front of it. Work can be exact and still remain warm, accessible and fun.
L’Impératrice belongs in a brunch morning, a lively afternoon or a long conversation. The music fills the room without taking it over and shows that the most human elegance does not need to keep its distance: it can smile and make your foot move.
