Khruangbin is a Houston trio formed by Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar and Donald ‘DJ’ Johnson Jr. on drums. Their music moves through funk, soul, dub and global psychedelia with an ease that makes any final label unnecessary.
There is a great deal of space inside their songs. The bass is rounded, the guitar draws clean lines and the drums hold the pulse without demanding attention. Restraint does not reduce intensity; it lets each detail breathe and allows listeners to enter at their own pace.
Choosing music for a coffee shop is about understanding that relationship. A good song can change the emotional temperature of a room without cancelling the conversations already taking place. It can be present and still leave space.
Khruangbin fits Baristas because it sounds like travel, calm and discovery without losing its groove. This is a band for a long coffee, an afternoon opening up and the moment when time is no longer organised only by the clock.
